"Four-time player, all-time leader in days lasted. His legacy is a complicated one. His victory in Redemption Island was a dominant one, and despite the lack of competition he faced still deserving of respect. He and Amber controlled All Stars. Greatest villain of series history, IMO." -/u/cochadoodle
"With his 4 appearances and 2 trips to FTC, Boston Rob leads all Survivors with ~120 days on Survivor. He currently holds the record for most total individual immunities won at 9 and general victories with 32. Outside of having his name among the top of many Survivor leaderboards, we as an audience watched the story arc and maturity of a 25 year-old clown. Rob's story begins in Marquesas as a bozo who is so overly arrogant and so concerned with trying to mimic The Godfather that he shot a hole (or several holes) in his Maraamu's boat as a power move -- only to leave himself the captain of a sinking ship and ultimately was ousted post-merge, pre-jury. He returned (among pre-game alliance controversy) in All-Stars like a bat out of hell. Learning from his Marquesan mistakes, Rob preached and emphasized tribe unity and loyalty with the intention of being loyal to no one (except himself and Amber, of course). He and Amber systematically removed the threats from the game. Rob then proceeded to make unnecessary deals and redundant deals that he had no intention of holding true to and ultimately betrayed. While exciting and dominating, Boston Rob's game in All-Stars showed the critical importance of a social game and the importance of having positive connections with the people he dismissively and apparently thoughtlessly stabbed in the front and back to remove from the game. His proposal to Amber was iconic. B. Rob returned again in Heroes vs. Villains as Survivor's prototypical villain -- the one who set the table for others (namely Russell) to attempt to repeat, only to find similar results. Rob returned as a 33 year old man, no longer the pompous boy of yester-years. Again, learning from his mistakes, Rob was very well-regarded within his tribe and was ingratiated in the thick of things. If not for a Tyson-blunder and Coach-cowardice that completely derailed the game, Rob was on pace to march to the finals to collect his million dollars. Instead, for the first time, he did not even make the merge. Returning for an unprecedented 4th time (and would be the only 4-time returnee until Rupert in 27, 5 seasons later) a year later and won with a very dominating and very convincing performance (granted among less than stellar competition). While he may have lost against some of his late-game allies, he surrounded himself by two loyal-to-fault goat allies in Nat10 and FillUP. In a culmination of roughly 10 years of trial and error, Boston Rob finally collected his victory." - /u/bigbrothercan |
