"The original mastermind. The Gay and Naked Grandfather of Strategy, and the game as we know it today. Without Ritchard Hatch creating the first alliance, and realizing the strategy part of voting people out, you have to wonder; would Survivor would've stayed a adventure game about surviving in the wilderness with strangers?" - /u/ChampagneChicken
"If you have a Survivor Hall of Fame, you have to have Richard Hatch. The man who learned the game before even Jeff Probst. The man who turned a game that focused on surviving in the wilderness into a numbers game, into a strategic game and into a thinking man's game. In other words, if Richard did not directly lay the foundation for what Survivor is today, he surely expedited that process."- /u/bigbrothercan
"Pretty laughable to even suggest the idea of a Hall of Fame that doesn't include Richard right away, let's be real. He didn't "invent the alliance" like a lot of people remember, but he *was* the one who managed to best exploit it... and, more importantly as far as Survivor the franchise is concerned, he was the *face* of the alliance. His win is still one of the most incredible, unbelievable Survivor moments of all time, as much as more recent fans' hindsight bias likes to pretend it was a predictable outcome. He was cast to be a first boot, he ended up winning, and along the way, he earned the ire of almost every single viewer for incredibly unexpected tactics and was just about the most complex character the show has ever had. By absolutely any metric - quality of character, memorability, strategic acumen, historical significance - Richard is without question a first-round inductee in any self-respecting hall of fame." - /u/DabuSurvivor
